The History Of Our Church
The church now known as Parkway Praise Center started out in 1976 as just a dream of the Kentucky Church of God Evangelism Department. In January 1977, Lee Roy messer was sent to London to plant the church, which was called London Mission. For two years services were held on Sunday afternoons and Thursday nights at London First Assembly of God, but the church was not officially set in order until May.
Our current site was purchased in March 1978 under the leadership of Gary Jordan. Much work was involved, but in November the first service was held in the new building even though it wasn't completed until the summer of 1979. At that time the name of the church was changed to London Parkway.
David and Carletta Douglas became pastor in October of 1980. During that time many souls were saved and the church grew in number. The motto for the church became "A healing station for hurting souls", which was based on prophetic utterances given by several people as they passed through.
Philip and Dreama Rains came to pastor in October 2000. During that time our children's church program blossomed. The Lord called the Rains family to plant a new church in Alfredo, GA at the end of June 2002.
Mark and Jennifer Hisle and their daughters, Emily and Ellie, came to pastor August 4, 2002. During their pastoriate we have seen mighty moves of God. We are still a healing station for hurting souls but our motto quickly became "A Presence Driven Church."
